What is a Brow Lift? The area around the eyes is one of the first to show signs of aging.

A brow lift, also called a forehead lift, raises drooping eyebrows, smooths forehead lines, and helps heavy upper eyelids appear more firm and refreshed.

If sagging brows are your concern, Dr. Lucas Bryant at Refine Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics offers a brow lift in Nashville to reduce the appearance of dark circles, droopy eyelids, under-eye bags, or just an overall “tired” appearance.

Types of Brow Lift Surgery

Dr. Bryant,  performs a wide variety of peri-orbital (around the eye) brow lifts in Nashville. These brow lift techniques are:

  • Coronal
  • Trichophytic
  • Endoscopic
  • Direct or indirect lateral temporal lift
  • Incisionless RF brow lift, AccuTite

We also make sure our patients maintain their own natural facial identity, giving you a rested, rejuvenated, not altered look, and avoiding the “overdone” or “treated” look. By correctly identifying the problem and using the correct treatment to address your concerns, our patients enjoy a wonderfully natural-looking result without obvious signs of having work done.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

This is considered the gold standard in surgical brow lift procedures today. Small incisions are made within the hair.

These small incisions allow a tiny endoscopic camera to be inserted. The eyebrow is then gently repositioned and shaped from underneath the skin.

Dr. Bryant has mastered this innovative brow lift, in Nashville at Refine Facial Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics.

Forehead and “frowning” muscles may also be tightened and repositioned as needed. Because of the way the incisions are placed for this procedure, they are essentially imperceptible once healed, when compared to the traditional coronal forehead lift.

This rejuvenated result, combined with no visible scar is why the endoscopic brow lift is the new standard in today’s eyebrow lifting procedures.

Dr. Bryant a dual board-certified and fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon, has been helping patients lift drooping eyebrows and eliminate forehead creases for years using this innovative technique.

Coronal Brow Lift

A surgical procedure that removes excess skin on the forehead then pulls the skin upward for a more contoured, youthful appearance. Underlying tissue and forehead muscles may be repositioned if needed.

The brow elevator and depressor muscles are the ones that control brow position, and these can be treated at the same time as the brow repositioning procedure. The skin is sutured closed at the hairline junction to hide the incisions.

Typically, the incision is made so that portions of hair grow through the scar after healing, making it very difficult to see once healed.

The common incision types for this style procedure include_once trichophytic (within the hairline) and pretrichial (just in front of the hairline). The hairline is not raised after a coronal brow lift if the surgeon follows this modern technique. This leaves the patient with a result that look rejuvenated, not altered.

Direct vs. Indirect Brow Lift (mid-forehead) Refine Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics

A direct brow lift corrects sagging eyebrows and eliminates the horizontal forehead wrinkles and brow furrows that make a person appear tired, sad, or angry when the face is at rest.

Small incisions are placed above the upper eyebrow. An indirect brow lift achieves many of the same benefits, however, the incision is hidden in a forehead crease. A tunnel is created under the skin from the lid crease to the upper part of the brow to remove excess tissue.

This technique can give very dramatic and natural results but is usually only done on individuals with permanent and prominent forehead creases (as this is where the scar is hidden). Brow height is raised while minimizing scars.

Lateral Temple Lift (Temporal Brow Lift) Also known as a lateral brow lift or “mini brow lift”, this procedure addresses the outer third of the brow and can be a fantastic way to open up and rejuvenate the eye area.

It is often combined with an upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) or other facial procedures. A small incision is placed in the hairline near the temple to elevate the eyebrow tails to a more youthful position. Scarring is minimal, and the results help the patient look more refreshed and awake in a subtle manner.

Skilled in the complexities of the periorbital eye area, Dr. Bryant, a dual board-certified and fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon, has performed numerous temple brow lifts in Nashville resulting in satisfied patients.

AccuTite Scarless RF Brow Lift It’s possible to elevate brows and reduce forehead lines without resorting to surgery.

Nonablative skin and tissue tightening using targeted radiofrequency energy can provide noticeable forehead lift results. Dr. Bryant is an InMode AccuTite Luminary, as he was the first physician to do AccuTite in Tennessee, and one of the first surgeons in the US to offer this innovative, minimally invasive treatment option.

Dr. Bryant specializes in the RF brow lift in Nashville, allowing our patients at Refine to enjoy all the benefits of improved eyebrow positioning without any worry about scars or incisions.

Many skin treatments like:

  • CO2 laser
  • FRAXEL
  • IPL
  • Microneedling
  • Chemical peels
  • Medical-grade skincare

Can be used to refresh the upper face and eye region. A combination approach ensures refined results. Dynamic wrinkles can be addressed with neuromodulators such as:

  • Botox
  •  Xeomin
  • Dysport
  • Juveau

If you notice facial volume loss or hollowing, we can surgically treat these concerns with custom implants, fat transfer, or through the use of carefully placed fillers from the Versa, Restylane, or Juvederm families.

How Long Does it Take to See Brow Lift Results? It depends on the type of procedure you had. The before and after brow lift results take a few weeks.

Patients that underwent brow lift surgery in Nashville at Refine Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics can expect the brows may appear too high in the first 2 to 3 weeks after surgery.

Do not worry, this is just temporary. The eyebrows will settle into a more normal position. The RF skin tightening results are immediate but will improve over several months as collagen and skin retraction increase with time.

Muscle relaxant injections like Botox and Juveau take about 4 days to start working, with 14 days until final results are visible.

What to Expect from Brow Lift Surgery

Like most cosmetic eye treatments, certain types of brow lifts can be performed in our office using topical and local anesthesia. If you prefer the comfort of light sedation, the procedure can also be performed at a nearby surgical center.

In many cases, brow lift surgery is performed in combination with other facial rejuvenation procedures. This helps ensure the total face appears in harmony with your perceived age after treatment.

Pre-Procedure Appointment

Before your procedure, you’ll meet with Dr. Bryant and his surgical care coordinator. Your personal treatment plan will be reviewed and you’ll be provided with all preoperative and postoperative instructions — as well as medication if applicable.

Post-Procedure Appointment

Brow lift recovery time varies depending on the procedure performed. Non-Surgical brow lift treatments usually require little-to-no downtime. In some cases, you can resume social activities and work obligations on the very same day. Surgical brow lift downtime is usually about 10 to 14 days.

Do I Need a Brow Lift or Eyelid Surgery? Brow lifts and blepharoplasty are two options you may wish to discuss with Dr. Bryant at your consultation.

Crowded, “tired” upper eyelids are often the result of sagging forehead skin. A brow lift elevates the skin of the forehead to smooth wrinkles and lift the position of the brows.

Raising loose forehead skin and brows has the effect of making the eyes appear more refreshed, open, and awake as the eyelid skin may be lifted along with the brow.

In some patients, however, upper eyelid surgery is the best approach. If the brows are in a desirable position, yet the patient has sagging upper eyelids, then upper lid blepharoplasty may be used.

There are subtleties between the two procedures. A careful examination by a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon like Dr. Lucas Bryant can help determine the best treatment regimen for you. Some patients may also benefit from undergoing a combined procedure using both a forehead lift and blepharoplasty - depending on their needs.

What is Hairline Lowering?

Also referred to as forehead reduction, hairline lowering is another effective procedure designed to bring the hairline forward. This procedure can be performed on its own or in tandem with hair transplants and other procedures.

The degree to which the hairline will be advanced depends on multiple factors. These include the patient’s scalp laxity, hairline height, and personal preference.

Patients of all genders who have good overall health and feel that their hairline is too high are typically ideal candidates for a hairline lowering lift. One of the most important factors in determining candidacy is scalp laxity, which will dictate how feasible the procedure will be. Hairline lowering makes for a great pairing with a Brow Lift, as both procedures create a more aesthetically appealing forehead region. Patients walk away with newfound confidence and more hairstyle options than they have ever had before.
